Clemmer, who received his BM from University of Texas at Arlington and his MM in instrumental conducting from the University of Oklahoma, was most recently the Associate Director of Bands, Director of Athletic Bands and Assistant Professor of Music at Sam Houston State University (SHSU) in Huntsville, Texas. Clemmer was also acting Assistant Director of the Summer Music Camps and the SHSU Marching Contest. Clemmer also stays busy as a Music Ensemble Instructor for the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps of Rosemont, IL, and as marching band consultant and visual designer for DCbrass Drill Design and Consultation.

Prior to working at SHSU, Clemmer taught at the University of Texas at Arlington as Visiting Assistant Professor of Music, Interim Associate Director of Bands and Interim Director of Athletic Bands, and held the positions of Assistant Director of the Summer Music Camps and Director of the UTA Marching Contest. Clemmer has held additional teaching positions at the University of Oklahoma, Newman Smith High School in Carrollton, TX, Duncanville High School in Duncanville, TX, and Fossil Hill Middle School in Keller, TX.

Clemmer has won numerous awards, competitions and honors while teaching at SHSU, the University of Texas at Arlington, Newman Smith High School and in his work with the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps. He has also performed professionally with the Dallas Opera, the East Texas Symphony Orchestra, the Legend Brass Quintet and the Texas Wind Symphony.

Clemmer's professional affiliations include memberships with the College Band Directors National Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association and the Texas Music Educators Association. He has also produced an instructional DVD entitled The Cavaliers Brass: From the Concert Hall to the Football Field.
